Welcome to my world of pictures, stories and life as a new dad stumbling through fatherhood one step at a time.

Well today we got the final piece of furniture needed for Baby Ferrell's room. Katie and I drove to Tupelo and picked up an Ashley rocker/recliner from the Ashley Furniture Home Store. It's now up in the room and ready for new baby action!

For anyone that's in the market for a new recliner I give a thumbs up to the prices and quality of the products from Ashley Furniture Homestore. We picked up ours, which is a tan leather model, for right around $300. And the quality seems pretty good, it's mostly all steel framed. The only knock against it is that we had to wait eight business days before it came it. But oh well, it still got here before the baby.

On the homefront, Katie is still waiting on Baby Ferrell. Friday is looming on the horizon and she really would prefer that Baby come before then, and so do I. The last few weeks have really been tough on her to try to get comfortable to sleep. It's not unusual to find her sleeping on four or more pillows trying to prop herself up. Hopefully tonight we'll get more than our usual 2-4 hours of sleep. Poor Katie, acid reflux is not fun.

Oh yeah, I've added a new photo here. This one is of our fur-child Baxter and I.

Hi, and welcome to my blog. I hope that everyone who logs on to this site finds it interesting. My hope is to set up this site for family and friends to check in on Baby Ferrell, Baxter, Katie and Myself. At this point I'm not really sure how this blog will turn out or what all thoughts it will encompas. But my hope is to keep updates of how the baby is doing as well as sharing the experiences of my new foray into fatherhood. I'm going to attempt to document our daily lives and all of my thoughts.
For those of you out there who might of just stumbled across this site I'll start with a little background information.
  • My name is Jami Ferrell. I'm a third year law student at the University of Mississippi Law School (Unfortunately Mississippi State doesn't have a law school, and loving the great state of Mississippi the way that I do, Ole Miss was really my only option). I have been married to Katie Savage Ferrell since November 6, 1999 and have been lucky enough to have shared nearly the last six years of my life with her. For over five of those years Katie and I have been blessed to be able to share our home and hearts with Baxter, our black and tan miniature dachshund.

Today is Tuesday, September 20, 2005. Our official due date for the arrival of Baby Ferrell was yesterday. However, I can already see that Baby Ferrell is taking after their mother and is determined to be "fashionably late". Much to the chagrin of many family members and friends. (Katie likes using the pural form "their" instead of the cold form of "it" to refer to the baby since we decided not to find out the sex of the baby. This has caused quite a bit of confusion when talking to friends and family concerning the baby. I'm still not sure if some people don't think that we are having multiples. Our doctor has even been caught with a look of bewilderment on her face upon hearing "their", and double checked her records before clarifying with us that we weren't having twins. So, although I'm using the term "their" in this blog, I am only referring to our one, as yet to be born, baby. Wew!)

Hopefully the next time I post on here it will be with the news that Baby Ferrell has arrived. I'll be posting info and pictures as the become available. If Baby Ferrell chooses not to come in the next few days Katie will be being induced at 6:00 a.m. on Friday. So, by the very least I should have pics posted by Sunday.

Stay tuned!
